And might mental illness be manifested differently from one culture to another, defying any universal chemical model? This conference is designed to bring these issues full-circle. In my coursework at Vanderbilt University, I have learned from psychologists, neuroscientists, anthropologists, and historians alike about the shortcomings of mental health care.
